Disaster Health Information Power User


INTRODUCTION:

Welcome to the webinar, “Becoming a Disaster Health Information Power User.” This educational activity was developed by librarian faculty in the Department of Health Informatics at the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine. This course aims to provide participants with high-quality health information resources to support evidence-based practice in crisis situations. It will provide health care providers with more proactive interventions in all phases of emergency management, including preparedness, and not just in response and recovery.

TARGET AUDIENCE:
The target audience for this educational activity is disaster and emergency first responders, public health workers, health care professionals (Practicing Physicians, Nurses, Residents/Fellows, etc.), students in the health professions, Medical Reserve Corps volunteers, and others working in disaster and emergency preparedness and response.

DESCRIPTION OF THE TYPE OF MEDIA:
This Internet Website contains video tutorials (linked to YouTube), printed materials in PDF format, and Surveys (Assessment, Evaluation, Pre- and Post-Test) created with SurveyMonkey. Participants will need to have Internet connectivity and an Internet Browser (Internet Explorer, Mozilla Firefox, Safari). A computer system with internal or external speakers are necessary for viewing and listening to the video tutorials. Adobe Acrobat Reader is needed to access print materials in PDF format. The surveys can be accessed with any of the Internet Browsers mentioned above.

DESCRIPTION OF THE METHOD OF PHYSICIAN PARTICIPATION IN THE LEARNING PROCESS:

Physicians will watch the videos and read the printed materials provided and complete the post-test to evaluate the learning process.
