MEDICAL PROBLEMS IN TBI: URINARY TRACT PROBLEMS

Bladder control and function can be significantly affected by the various types of neurologic injuries than can occur following TBI. Changes in bladder function and control may be temporary, or permanent, depending on the type and severity of the injury. Proper management of the urinary tract system is important to prevent kidney damage, infection, and skin breakdown, and to promote improved bladder control.
