The best Evidence Based Medicine journal articles are original studies of randomized, controlled clinical trials, meta-analyses, or reviews of multiple trials, and clinical practice guidelines. Therefore, when you review the articles you retrieve, look under the methods section of the abstract and/or paper to see if the article meets these EBM criteria. For Example, the familiar and frequently published case report and opinion paper are not good sources of EBM evidence.
