QUOSA Information Manager Extracts all or selected full-text articles from your PubMed, Ovid, SCOPUS, Google, or Google Scholar searches with one click, organizes article collections, and searches across the contents of the articles you retrieve. Scopus A database of abstracts and citations for scholarly journal articles, covering nearly 18,000 titles published since 1996 in the arts, medicine, physical sciences, and the social sciences. Web of Knowledge An academic citation indexing and search service, encompassing the sciences, social sciences, arts, and humanities since 1945.   Designing a Study:   ClinicalTrials.gov Contains a registry and results database of federally and privately supported clinical trials. Office of Research (UM) Facilitates scholarly activity, scientific discovery, and the responsible conduct of research. NIH Grant Cycle Contains information about the full grant cycle from how to qualify to how to stay funded. NSF Publication: A Guide for Proposal Writing   A document created by the National Science Foundation to assist researchers in writing proposals.   Grants and Funding:   Grants Portal One-stop-shop for information on grants, including NIH information, UM resources, how to find funding, recently announced funding activities, and research in progress. Resources/Tools for Finding Funding (UM Office of Research) Designed to help the UM research community find the right funding source for research, creative, and other scholarly activities.   Finding Collaborators and Mentors:   Collaboration Portal Collection of essential resources for mentoring and collaboration. SciVal Experts A mentoring and collaboration resource, which features an in-depth profile of individual University of Miami Miller School of Medicine faculty members, and includes their publications in PubMed and their grants in NIH RePORTER.  Includes links to many national experts as well.   Research Compliance:   Human Subjects Research Office (HSRO) Provides administrative support for the University of Miami Institutional Review Boards. Institutional Review Boards (IRBs) Reviews all human subject research conducted under the auspices of the University of Miami. Office of the Animal Care and Use Committee Ensures that all University of Miami faculty and staff comply with federal and state guidelines concerning the use of animals in research and teaching through the Institutional Animal Care & Use Committee (IACUC).   Citing Your References:   RefWorks A web-based bibliographic citation manager used to easily create a personal database of imported references from text files or online databases, facilitating reference storage, retrieval, formatting for publication, and sharing of folders among collaborators.   Where to Publish:   NIH Public Access Policy Overview Summarizes the NIH Public Access Policy procedures and requirements for placing publications resulting from grant funding in publicly accessible repositories, such as PubMed Central. Open Access Portal Learn what open access is and what its benefits are, find answers to FAQs, locate open access repositories, and connect with open access organizations. ISI Web of Knowledge - Journal Citation Reports Offers quantifiable statistical information to evaluate journals. Scopus Journal Analyzer   Provides insight into journal performance and compares journal rankings.   Demonstrating Your Accomplishments (Calculating Your H-Index)   Web of Knowledge/Web of Science Limited to ISI journals.  No books, book chapters, etc., but includes publications from 1945 forward. Offers clickable author disambiguation to assure publications by the correct author are being reported. Scopus Easy option to find the h-index for an author, but may under represent h-index.  Uses PubMed and NIH RePORTER for calculating h-index, but is limited to publications from 1995 forward. Offers author disambiguation for multiple spellings. Google Scholar/Scholar Index Must be used with Scholar Index to determine h-index.  Includes broad coverage of documents and disciplines but no information on specific resources, disciplines or dates covered.  No author disambiguation.   Faculty Publications:   University of Miami Scholarly Repository Contains select full-text research and scholarly works by faculty, students, and staff at the University of Miami.     Portal by Vedana Vaidhyanathan, MSLS, vvaidhyanathan@med.miami.edu and Emily Vardell, MLS, evardell@med.miami.edu.
