This clinical reference tool is primarily used for “point of care” clinical practice. It is an evidence-based clinical resource.

A web-based bibliography and database manager, used to easily create personal databases of imported references from text files or online databases, that facilitates reference storage, retrieval, formatting for publication and sharing of folders or databases.


 

Locating Materials in the Library and Online
 

 
Library Catalog
Use the online Library Catalog to find out which books are owned by the Calder Library or to which journals the library has print and/or online subscriptions. CALLCAT does not know which articles are published in a journal - use the Search for Medical Literature for Journal Articles (above) to find journal articles on your topic.
 
E-Journals Searchable List
Use this webpage to search for electronic or online access to journals. You may search the list in a variety of ways including:
  • Official Medline Abbreviiation (i.e., n engl j med)
  • Title begins with (i.e., New England finds all journal titles beginning with the exact words New England)
  • Title contains all words (i.e., Cancer finds any journal title containing the word Cancer regardless of where it appears in the journal's title)

UMMSM Department of Medical Education
Get quick access to the online schedules and other information created by the Department of Medical Education.
 
WebMail
Http://webmail.med.miami.edu is the internet address for the web interface to your student Outlook email accounts.
 
Blackboard
Students use Blackboard, an online course system, during their first two years to access materials and complete required activites pertaining to the Evidence-Based Medicine Theme as part of their Doctoring 1-4 courses. A university assigned login and password is required to access this online information resource.

GeriU - the Online Geriatrics University
Students use GeriU throughout their four years of training. The site houses all of the online interactive self-study modules and review materials for Geriatrics, Pain Management, and Palliative Care instructional activities. Students submit their independent assignments on templates provided on GeriU. At various times throughout their training, they will also complete some of the competency assessments on GeriU. A personalized username and password is required before you may access the GeriU system.

Google Scholar
Google Scholar provides a simple way to broadly search for scholarly literature. From one place, you can search across many disciplines and sources: peer-reviewed papers, theses, books, abstracts and articles, from academic publishers, professional societies, preprint repositories, universities and other scholarly organizations. Google Scholar helps you identify the most relevant research across the world of scholarly research.

myIDP (Individual Development Plan from Science Careers)
myIDP is a unique, web-based career-planning tool tailored to meet the needs of Ph.D. students and postdoctoral fellows in the sciences, from the publishers of the journal Science.

Provides information on licensing exam services including sample assessments.
