The treatment and prevention of pulmonary problems and
respiratory complications, such as pneumonia, atelectasis, etc.(leading causes
of morbidity and mortality in SCI) are aimed at improving vital capacity,
maintaining mobility, preventing chest deformity, and improving cough. There
are many non-ventilator measures and many types of ventilator support.
